Your first appointment

The first appointment with your EAP counsellor is all around getting to know you and what you want to achieve with the session so that we can ensure we meet your needs.

  • What to expect at your first EAP appointment

    • Be assured of privacy and confidentiality with regards to everything you share with the counsellor.
    • Complete a consent form (if you haven’t already done this) which clearly outlines what will happen with your information.
    • Discuss with the counsellor why you have come in to see them, what has prompted you to reach out for help.
    • Possibly be given some screening tests to do to establish some baseline information.
    • Identify a plan during the sessions you have together which will best meet your needs.
    • Have your next appointment booked and confirmed before you leave so you have surety of your next visit.
    • Possibly be given some things to try, resources to read or activities to do between your sessions.
  • Privacy & Security
